Nick Seaver and his wife Michelle Seaver (Co-Founder of Community Mindfulness Project) delivered a compelling TedxTalk in 2015 on the topic of the The Gift of Silence. Watch below!
"Nick Seaver is a dad, commuter, and busy professional who once upon a time, in the land before children, saved up a bit of money, stepped away from a busy professional life, put all his belongings into storage, and spent 18 months in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, in full time silent retreat, as part of the first major scientific study on meditation. Why would anyone do this? What does silence and solitude do to the mind? What were the challenges? Benefits? Is there anything that can be brought down from the mountains and into our busy, engaged lives?"

The Drikung Samtenling Acharya Nuns Leadership Program provides fellowships to Tibetan Nuns in India for a year long residency the US to acquire education and skills for the development of Drikung Samtenling Nunnery and its 90 nuns. Each fellow will design a project based on her areas of interest and the current and future needs of the nuns of Samtenling. A team of experts will create training modules for her to reach her goals, which she will implement upon her return to India.
The overarching goal of the program is to empower nuns at Samteling and other monasteries in India. Like their brothers, the monks who serve internationally, they are essential as future leaders in the Drikung Kagyu lineage.

HeartWell Co-Founder and Executive Director, Zayda Vallejo returns to Miami for a 4-Day Mindfulness Immersion (MI)!
Mindfulness Immersion (MI) is a 4-day, 28-hour psycho-educational group intervention based on the curriculum of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program, with modifications designed to activate stress-reducing internal mechanisms, cultivate compassion for oneself and others, and increase effectiveness in interpersonal communications.
When we bring mindfulness and compassion into our communication with others, the result can be a significant deepening of our understanding of others, and greater harmony in our relationships. Mindfulness Immersion is an experiential training that integrates mindfulness and compassion practices to hone skillful listening.
Program activities include meditation, gentle mindful movement, experiential exercises, group discussion, and didactic educational components. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MI. Experienced practitioners of mindfulness will also benefit from the way that this program weaves its core elements. Home practice related to activities of daily life is assigned each day.
