About the Session

Mindfulness as a catalyst (for website)_edited.jpg

Mindfulness as a Catalyst for Equity and Collective Healing strives to inspire individuals to become agents for social change by using trauma-informed relational mindfulness practices infused by frameworks of psychosocial and cultural competency. The foundational pillars of this program are grounded in fostering trust, acceptance, and compassion to facilitate a transformational journey with life-long personal, interpersonal, social, and global impact.

This program is ideal for individuals who appreciate the layers of conditioning in our current societal dynamics, and who are willing to explore the role they play in such dynamics and the possibilities for growth, choice, and change. This process requires a commitment to self-reflection and a willingness to be vulnerable while being held in a non-judgmental, safe, and compassionate environment.

Program Type

Experiential program for small or large groups, with systematic training on mindfulness and meditation practices, interactive exercises, and didactic psycho-educational components in cultural and racial literacy as well as social-emotional learning, stress reduction and resilience. This program includes a silent retreat experience halfway into the program to deepen the practices.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn a broad repertoire of informal and formal meditation and mindfulness practices and cultivate a systematic way to integrate them in their everyday lives.

  • Participants will learn to look inward with compassion and less fear to learn about the multifaceted connection between culture and identity and to understand the role they play in shaping racialized systems or systems of inequities in our society.

  • Participants will learn to recognize one's conditioning to operate under dynamics of privilege and oppression and become aware of their unconscious biases and the habitual patters of perception and interaction they drive.

  • Participants will learn about the Compassionate Consciousness Framework (based upon the cultural competency continuum) as a tool to improve cultural and racial literacy and gain clarity about the language, thoughts, and actions embedded in inequities and social injustices.

  • Participants will learn to cultivate deep listening and mindful communication to foster authentic and meaningful relationships.

  • Participants will learn to become more aware of the mindsets and choices that emerge and become part of the solution towards promoting a socially just and compassionate world.
