Description

The HeartWell Institute presents the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion (MSC) online course. This program is offered by a trained MSC teacher and consists of 8 weeks of 2-hour classes and a 4-hour retreat.

The course is appropriate for those who want to learn about Mindfulness and Self-Compassion from the comfort of their home.

Please contact info@heartwellinstitute.org with any questions, or call us at (774) 243-6800.

  • MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion providing a powerful tool for emotional resilience.

  • Mindfulness is the first step in emotional healing and allows us to be able to reflect on and acknowledge our difficult thoughts and feelings (such as feeling inadequate, sad, angry, or confused) with a spirit of openness and curiosity.

  • Self-compassion cultivates learning to respond to these difficult thoughts and feelings with kindness, compassion, and understanding to calm and support ourselves when we are suffering.

  • Research has shown that self-compassion significantly improves emotional well-being, increases happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can even help us maintain healthy lifestyle habits, such as eating a proper diet and exercising. Being mindful and compassionate also leads to greater peace of mind and well-being in our daily lives.

  • The MSC was developed by Christopher K. Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness, compassion, and psychotherapy, and Kristin Neff, PhD, a pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion. (Center for Mindful Self-Compassion)
